HF 13 – Medicaid Reimbursement

HF 13 - Medicaid Reimbursement

Increases Medicaid reimbursement rates annually by the lower of the Midwestern CPI or 2.5%.

Why is this important to Crossroads?

Iowa HF 13 is crucial for Crossroads services because it would provide predictable, annual Medicaid reimbursement increases. Every year, we go to legislators pleading for rate adjustments, as increases haven’t kept pace with the rising cost of living. This makes budgeting and planning for growth incredibly challenging. HF 13 would allow us to move from pleading to planning, giving us the stability to focus on delivering quality services while strategically preparing for the future

Crossroads Talking Points

  • HF 13 ties annual Medicaid reimbursement increases to the Midwestern CPI or 2.5%, whichever is lower, providing consistency and reliability in funding.
  • Without predictable increases, providers must plead for rate adjustments each year, making it difficult to sustainably plan and grow.
  • With predictable funding, we can better focus on enhancing service delivery to seniors and individuals with disabilities while preparing for the future.
  • “Planning Over Pleading”– HF 13 would allow providers to move from uncertainty to stability, empowering us to plan strategically rather than repeatedly advocating for necessary funding.
