Back in April, the Council for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) spent three days surveying and auditing our programs. It’s part of a process organizations like us go through every three years to make sure that they’re adhering to best practices and industry standards. During the survey, CARF talked to clients, parents, staff, and board members. They spent hours poring over policies and service documentation. They observed services and conducted probing interviews with Senior Leadership.
Earlier this month, we received notice from CARF that we’d been awarded a three-year accreditation. That’s the top honor they could give us. They doled out high praise for our person-centered services. They loved our commitment to staff competency and compensation. One of the surveyors, who’s been doing surveys for 20 years, said that he’d never seen an organization make such a dramatic turnaround in three years.
Of course, any surveyor worth their salt will find issues that need addressing. Our surveyors noted several areas of improvement. Over the next couple months, we’ll make changes to policies including our accessibility plan, risk management, and a few others. We’ll be a stronger organization and better prepared for the future.
Speaking of the future, Senior Leadership will begin the process of writing Crossroads’ next strategic plan. We’ve gathered feedback from staff, clients, and stakeholders to help us decide our goals. We’ll take an honest look at where we are and where we want to be.
When we’re ready, we’ll share our plan. We can’t wait to hear what you think.
